How to Make 2015 the Best Year Ever [Podcast]

1.) Expect God to do Amazing Things in Your Life in 2015! 

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. -Hebrews 11:6

18 But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared]. 19 The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble. -Proverbs 4:18-19

2.) Recognize that You Won’t Have Your Best Year Ever by Accident 

24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified. I Corinthians 9:24-27

Jesus never did anything by accident: 

19 So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished. John 5:19-20

3.) Get a Journal and Commit to Journaling Consistently 

Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. 3 This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. -Habakuk 2:2-3

What do you journal?

• Key Scriptures from my devotions
• What I’m praying for
• My emotions – When I get mad, I journal
• What’s happening in my life
• What God’s teaching me and showing me
• What I do every day
• My memories

4.) Pray and Hear From God about What He Would Have You do in the 7 Key Areas of Life 

Don’t Put God First – Put Him first in ALL of these areas!

Spiritual – God how do you want me to grow spiritually this year? What Bible reading plan should I go on? Should I join a small group? Should I start serving? Should I intern? How can I grow my prayer life? What books should I read? What podcasts should I listen to?

Social – God, who do you want me to hang out with this year? Who do you want me to reach out to? Where can I be the greatest blessing? Do I need to walk away from any relationships in my life?

Physical – God, how do you want me to take care of my body this year? What do I need to learn? What do I need to do? What are some goals I can set in this area? Show me the importance of taking care of myself!

Intellectual – God, what do you want me to learn this year? What books should I read? What podcasts should I listen to?

Family – God, what do you want me to do in my family this year? What can I do to honor my parents and siblings? How can I encourage them? How can I deepen my relationship with them? How can I love them? Show me how valuable they are in my life. Show me what you love about them!

Career/School – God, what do you want me to do in school this year? What clubs and activities should I be a part of? Do you want me to start anything in my school? How can I be a blessing in my school or workplace? What classes should I take? How can I do better in classes? Where do you want me to go to college?

Financial – God, how do you want me to use my money this year? If I’ve never tithed, should I start? If I do tithe, should I give above the tithe? Who do you want me to give my money to? How do you want me to manage my money? How much should I save? How can I learn how to handle money better?

5.) Pray Like it all depends on God, Work Like it Depends on You 

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Phil. 4:13 

God will always do His part and He’ll give you the grace to do your part, but you have to do something with what He tells you!

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” -John 2:5

If you’ll do whatever He tells you this year, you’re guaranteed to have your best year ever.
