  1. Hey Bubba. I would like to know a bit more about living out every day on purpose. You seem to be a welth of knoledge, and i have no doubt you probably have a couple sermons stored up on the subject. However, for the sake of your time i am content to just ask for a few tips 🙂
    -Thanks
P.S. If you did, however, decide to type up your wisdom in greater length for me, i can’t say i wouldn’t emmencly enjoy reading it.

  2. Hey Rain,

Is that your real name? I love it! Anyway – great question. There is a ton I could type – I’ll probably do a series on it. Here are some quick things:

The book that helped me realize that I need to live everyday on purpose was “Today Matters” by John Maxwell. The thesis of the book is “We over-exaggerate yesterday, we overestimate tomorrow, and we underestimate today.” I think that is a great thought. Another great quote is “The secret of my success will always be found in my daily agenda.”

That made me realize the importance of a day. Then I took my Life Plan (I’ll blog about this later), my bucket list, annual, and quarterly goals and started figuring out what I’d need to do consistently on a daily basis to see these things come to pass.

So I guess my short answer would be – Do you have goals in your life that you’re aiming at? If so, what are you doing daily to see those things come to fruition? Figure out what the price you have to pay is for your dreams and start paying it daily with self-discipline.

I’d also suggest creating a personal growth plan and doing something everyday to grow!

Does this answer your question? It was a loaded one that I’ll do a series on coming up. If it didn’t, let me know and I’ll elaborate.

    Thanks Rain!

  3. Someone Jumped the gun early on ask anything Friday with this question on Thursday:

so i realize that i am a day ahead in the ask anything Friday but this question is not about you so its all good…my question is about the bible it says we are the righteousness in Christ Jesus from what i understood righteousness meant right standing but when you try and fit that in that it just does not really make sense to me you are the right standing in Christ Jesus. i figured you might be able to help me out on this one

  4. Great question! Righteousness is right standing with God! Before Adam and Eve sinned they were righteous before God – perfect – they got to hang out with God everyday and commune with him (awesome). Then when they messed up – sin came into the world, creating a gap between God and man.

God gave Moses the law for men to keep and the whole purpose of the law (commandments) was to make men realize there would never be anything they could physically do to attain right standing with God because it was impossible for someone keep the law. In other words – they couldn’t earn righteousness.

Then Jesus came and He fulfilled the law – that is when He said – it is finished on the cross. Because Jesus died for us – the minute we accept Him – God sees us as righteous. Galatians says that if righteousness could be earned by keeping the law then Jesus died for no reason. So we’re righteous because of the blood of Jesus. That is why the BIble says we’re the righteousness of God IN CHRIST.

From the minute you get saved you’re completely righteous in God’s eyes and the best part – (where most people miss it) is your as righteous in God’s eyes the day that you get saved as you will be on the day you die – there is nothing you can do to become more or less righteous – thats a whole other message.

    Did I answer your question?

  5. Ok, with all that has happened in the last couple days and weeks, people have thrown the race card in the mix. But it isn’t us vs. them. It’s us vs. the real terrorist/divider known as satan. What are your thoughts on where our country is headed.

  6. Josh,

I liked what Perry Noble said…”Change isn’t the result of who is in the White House, but who is in the hearts of the people.” I love what PJ says, “Jesus is the only hope of this world.” That is a fact! So I know I am going to continue to go after God with all of my heart and do everything I can to enable people to have a personal relationship with God.

As far as the future – Absolutely nobody has any clue what the future will look like. I think we need to commit to praying for the leadership of our country, speak good things about them, and believe the best about them!

Big question – short answer… hope it helped….

  7. Yeah! Question day. My fav.

    2 part question:
    – Why has it been an “interesting week”?

    – What did you do to “push through” it?

  8. Ben Rath – I can always count on the Faction to come through with a question!

My Week – Definitely let myself have some pity parties! You know those times where you know what the Word says about a situation, but you’d rather feel sorry for yourself? Haha… That was me! I’m over that now…To push through it… I “fed” myself some Keith Moore, read from some good books, and spent some time with God!

It’s just a crazy season of my life – I’m enjoying it though! I’m moving out tomorrow! I am Zack and Lauren’s new next door neighbor haha!

Tell Alicia I’m still waiting for her debut!

    Love you man,

    Bubs

  9. If I thought my friend was having sex before marriage . . .

1.) It would depend on the friend – if it was someone who asked me to hold them accountable in their relationship – I would confront them and help them walk through things

2.) I wouldn’t judge them or condemn them

    3.) I would love them

    4.) If I didn’t know – I wouldn’t do anything unless they told me…I wouldn’t just be like…I know you’re having sex – REPENT!

    Does that help?

  10. You should tell someone on staff (Pastor Nathan, Laurie, Sean, or myself) . . . if you don’t feel comfortable approaching us in person. E-mail us…

  11. Yo bubba… this is completely out of place during the week/day and such, but I don’t know what to do so I figured I would just leave a comment on this, so uhh here it goes…

Last Sunday, as in Nov. 7th, I cut myself for the first time. I did it because I’m confused. After camp, I was so fired up for God and I was telling everyone, literally everyone, about the amazing things God can do and how pumped I was to do stuff for HIm! I was surprised to come back home as changed as I was. Now that school is back in session and I’m back into the swing of things, I’ve been sort of “spiraling downward” back to the same place I was all last year… basically I’m stuck and I was out of the “rut” for about 2.5 months: The week of camp and a short time after.

It’s really had a bad impact on my life… I don’t feel I can actually go and tell anyone at church because they will look at me differently, tell my parents, or suggest I go to a counselor and I don’t want any of that nonsense… so I guess what I’m trying to say is that I am stuck again and I can’t get out this time, and I read my bible a lot and I keep searching, and I know the answer is God, and I keep pursuing Him, but I just can’t get any closer and I feel so far away as it is, and I feel trapped I guess… recommendations?

I really want to pursue the things of God with everything I have, and I just can’t because I feel like there’s something blocking me, and I don’t know what it is. But it’s literally sucking the life out of me and killing me, and I can’t stop it…

  12. You need to get in contact with me so we can get the right people involved in your life to help you. Let me know who you are and how we can get in contact with you.

Please e-mail me or call me – bsmith@lifeatvictory.com or call me at the church 724.453.6200 x.305
