Be Willing to Look Dumb

This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.” -I Cor. 1:25

A lot of times in our walk with God, God will ask us to do things that seem just flat out dumb:

God had Noah build a boat to prepare for a flood . . .

God had Abraham leave everything to in order to follow Him even though he had no idea where He was going . . .

God had Moses leave his position in Egypt to free the Egyptians slaves . . .

God told Joshua to have his people march around the walls of Jericho for six days and on the 7th day have everyone shout and the walls would fall down . . .

God had Jesus leave everything in Heaven, strip himself of all of his power, become human, and die for us...

In the natural, all of the things God led these men to do were . . . dumb. They didn’t make sense. It took faith for these men to do what God told them to do.

But . . . What was the outcome of them choosing to obey God and being willing to look dumb?

Noah saved the world!

Abraham became the father of many nations . . .

Moses led the people out of Egypt . . .

Joshua and his people conquered the city . . .

Jesus saved the world!

I can promise you, if you follow God, He will ask you to do things that don’t make sense naturally. You won’t understand it and it is going to take faith to obey. People won’t understand you. People will think you are an idiot. People will tell you that you are an idiot!

None of that matters.

All that you need to focus on is the fact that if God told you to do it, and you do it, you and everyone around you will be blessed as a result of your obedience.

Be willing to look dumb for a season, because in the end, God will bring you to a place where the decisions He has asked you to make, make sense, and the outcome of your obedience will leave the people that criticized you, amazed.

The best favor you did anyone was obey God, even if it made you look dumb for a season.
