“If God’s called you to do something, He’s the only one that can take that away.” -Bruce Bickel
I was meeting with a community leader recently and we were talking about calling. The leader made this statement to me that I thought was extremely profound, he said, “You’ve probably been doing what you’re called to do your whole life, just keep doing it and keep growing.”
Isn’t that true? Often, we’re already doing what we’re called to do, it just may not be at the level we want to be doing it. That is where faithfulness comes in. If we’re faithful with our calling now, we’ll end up doing what God has ultimately called us to do.
God put gifts in you and had a plan for you to use those gifts before you were even born. A lot of people have been using the gifts God has given them their whole lives, they just have not used for the purposes He intended them to use them for. Until we use what God has put in us for His purposes, our gifts and callings will never reach their full potential.
Since God has put gifts in you to be used for His purposes, then He’s the only one that can take that away. You of course have to do something with what He gave you, but as long as you’re being faithful with what He’s given you and what He’s called you to do, you’ll always be making the maximum impact you can make in the season of life you’re in.
Romans 12:6-8 says,“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;if it is to encourage, then give encouragement;if it is giving, then give generously;if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
Don’t know what you’re called to do? Look back on your life and look for patterns of how you have been used to make an impact on others. Most likely, it’s something you’ve been doing your whole life. Once you discover the things that God has called you to do, do it with everything you’ve got and leave the results up to God.
Again, If God’s given you a gift and a call, nobody can take those from you. In fact, the Bible says if you’re doing what God wants you to do and becoming who He wants you to become, then whatever He wants to do in and through your life will be unstoppable.
What has God put in you and what are you doing with it?
