“But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” -Joshua 24:15
Most people who aren’t living up to their potential want to change. They want to live a great life. They want to make great choices. They want to succeed. Often, they just don’t know how, so they settle for a mediocre existence. I’ve been there. Have you?
In life, you will have a million and one reasons not to change and live the life God intended you to live. Thoughts like, “What will people think? What if I’m labeled a hypocrite? What if I fail? What if I look stupid? What if I lose all of my friends? What if my family disowns me?” constantly hold you back in fear.
If you really want to change, none of those things matter. All that matters is that you decide you are going to change.
Change is a Choice
So much of life consists deciding what kind of life you would like to live. With God, there is no cap on your potential. There is no limit to what you can do. The only thing that can hold you back is . . . you.
Decide today that you’re going to be the one in your family or circle of friends to turn it all around.
Decide that you’re going to be the first one to go to college, to not go into debt, to raise an awesome family, to go to church, to quit partying, to live for God, to be happy, to get into shape, to live life on purpose, to live the life you’ve always dreamed of living.
If you’ll start making the right decisions today, your life could look totally different a year from now than it does today. Your life can turn around! Make the decision that today is the day you change your life forever!
“Although you cannot go back and have a brand new start my friend, anyone can start today and have a brand new end.”
What changes do you want to make in your life?
What thoughts or fears are holding you back from making those changes?
What is one decision you can make today that will change your life?
