Decision #2!

Laura and I had the opportunity to speak to students at Slipper Rock CRU on dating and relationships. We recorded our talk and have posted it on our podcast! We hope that this message will help you in your journey as a single man or woman and in your journey as a couple if you are in a relationship.

I say it in the message, but it’s worth repeating. Laura and I are not THEE example. We try to be an example, but please do not put on us a platform like we are some unbelievable couple, we are normal human beings and have issues just like anybody else! Any successes we have had, came as a result of following God and the principles in His Word. We are simple sharing lessons that we God has taught us on our journey to marriage.  Make God your example. Look to him! We can guarantee that if you will put God first, you’ll be in the right relationships and navigate those relationships correctly. If there is anything Laura and I can ever do to help you, please let us know. Feel free to contact us through the contact me tab on the side of this page. Enjoy this message:

Notes from the Message:

Become a Person Worth Dating and Marrying Before You Date

Matthew 6:33 – Seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and ALL these things will be added unto you!

If you’re not committed to serving God, what makes you think you’ll serve man or woman? It starts with serving God!

“If you want a better world, composed of better nations, inhabited by better states, filled with better counties, made up of better cities, compromised of better neighborhoods, illuminated by better churches, populated by better families, then you’ll have to start by becoming a better person.” -Tony Evans

If you’re willing to date someone, you’re willing to marry them!
Who you marry matters! It’s the second most important decision you’ll make! It’s going to impact the rest of your life, your kids, your legacy, our world etc.

Write down all of the qualities you want in a spouse, then ask yourself, do you possess those qualities?

It was Worth Trusting God
Isaiah 26:3 – Keep your eyes on Him and He’ll keep you in perfect peace!

It was Worth Going Through All The Tests and Trials

James 1:2-4 -Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds,(F) 3 because you know that the testing of your faith(G) produces perseverance.(H) 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature(I) and complete, not lacking anything.

It was Worth Staying Sexually Pure until Marriage

I Cor. 6:18 – Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

You can’t pursue sexual sin and Jesus at the same time!  Your obedience or disobedience doesn’t just effect you, it effects your future spouse!

It was Worth Setting Boundaries and Getting Accountability

  1. tdentice@gmailYou lied, I knew you while you were in high school and you
bragged about having sex and now that you are older and have gone to church for
a few years you pretend that you were a virgin up until marriage. I call
bullshit! I find it offensive that you get on your moral high horse and falsely
claim to be a leader while all you do is preach pipe dreams to impressionable
preteens based on complete lies. If you want to be a REAL leader try being
honest with your youth group, your wife, and most importantly yourself!
