Are You Building a Great Life?

Everyone wants a great life, but too often we’re to narrow-minded on what makes up a great life. We believe success is attaining a certain position in life, or making a certain amount of money, or owning certain possessions, or getting to be around certain groups of people. We see others that we believe are successful and dream of what it would be like to be in their shoes.

The question we have to ask ourselves is what makes up a great life? Are the people we look up to actually living a good life? What can we do to build a great life?

Take 5 minutes and watch this video with Zig Ziglar, it’s well worth five minutes of your time:

What a great story. I think we can learn several things from it. One, just because you think someone is successful in life, doesn’t mean they are successful in life. Two, instead of looking and evaluating others, we need to look at our own lives and grade ourselves in each of the following areas:

Happy – Are you happy? Do you enjoy life? Happiness is a choice!

Healthy – Are you healthy? Do you eat well? Do you exercise regularly? Health and fitness is extremely important to living a great life. If you haven’t been living healthy and would like me to help you, please feel free to contact me, I’d love to help you!

Reasonably ProsperousZig Ziglar one said, “Money isn’t everything, but it ranks right up there with oxygen!” While money isn’t everything, it is important. If it wasn’t, you wouldn’t spend the majority of your life trying to get some! Earn as much as you can!

Secure – If you lose your job, would you be ok? If you lost all of your money? Where do you find your security? If it’s in things, or people, or status, you can lose it. We need to learn to find our security in God!

Friends – It’s been said that if you have one or two really good friends in life, you are blessed. The older you get, the more you will recognize the truth in that statement. Do you have rich friendships?

Peace of Mind – Do you have peace or are your days filled with stress, worry, and anxiety? I’ve found that in my life, peace comes from trusting God!

Good Family RelationshipsJohn Maxwell defines success as having those closest to you, love and respect you the most. I believe that. Family is everything. Do you have great relationships with your family?

Hope– Do you have hope? Do you wake up everyday excited about the future? Or do you wake up thinking there is no hope? Once again, I have discovered that hope is found in pursuing God!

God – It all starts here. Matthew 6:33 says to seek first the Kingdom of God and ALL these things will be added to you. I promise you, if you want a good life, God has to be the center of it.

Thoughts?

What areas did you grade yourself well in? What areas need some work? What can you do to change the areas you graded yourself low in?
