This year is going to be a little different, I am running the half-marathon and Laura is not running at all. The reason for this change is that we are expecting a baby girl the week of the marathon! We could not be more excited!
However, we still want to be a blessing to Light of Life, therefore, we’d like to ask you to consider supporting me this year as I run. My initial goal is to raise over $10,000 again for the Mission.

I have been on staff at Light of Life for 5 years. It’s been an incredible journey. In 2015 we were able to:
- · Provide over 192,000 meals to those in need
- · Provide over 8,000 nights of shelter homeless men
- · Provided 476 Thanksgiving dinner baskets to needy North Side families
- · Hold over 800 chapel services for those in need
- · Provide over 12,000 meals for Urban Impact’s after-school programs
- · Had 24 men and women graduate from our long-term recovery programs
If I had to sum up everything I’ve learned about serving the poor over the last 5 years, I would repeat what Tim Keller says often, “If you don’t love the poor, then you don’t know what God has done for you.” I’ve found that:
- Without Christ, we’re all poor.
- We’re all one two decisions away from being in the exact same position the men and women we serve find themselves in.
- The men and women we serve are all someones son, daughter, mother, father, sister, and brother. We should treat them like we’d treat our own family if they were in the same position.
When you support me for the marathon, your money goes directly to helping those in need. That being the case, would you help me raise over $11,000 again this year for the Mission?
There is a $5,000 Match Available! – The Brothers and Sisters in Christ Foundation has agreed to provide a $5,000 matching gift as incentive to give. However, I have to raise $5,000 before they’ll donate the match. I’m currently at $1,020 raised, so until I hit $6,020, the match will not be given! However, this means that when you give to support me for the marathon, your donation to Light of Life will instantly double! Once we hit the match, we’ll have raised over $11,000 for the homeless!
