“Learn to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want.” — Jim Rohn
I was listening to a man speak who helped NFL players with their finances. He said the first thing he teaches them is that the NFL stands for, “Not for long”. The average length of an NFL players career is 3-4 year. That’s a pretty short amount of time to live out the dream that’s been in the players hearts since they were little.
That got me thinking about how short life is. Think about how old you are, how fast did that go? Yes, we’ve been blessed with this gift called life, but this life is short, its temporary, we’re here . . . but not for long.
If you’re an executive or senior pastor, you won’t be for long. Even if you’re in that position for 20 years, it will go by so fast.
If you’re married, you won’t be for long, even if you’re married for 80 years, those years will fly by.
Whatever position you’re in now, you won’t be for long.
The friends you have now, won’t be your friends for long.
Your teenage years aren’t that long, neither are your 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, or 50’s.
If you have children, they will not be the age they are right now forever.
Life is short. Everything we do is temporary. Make it count. Be a good steward of the life God’s given you. Enjoy where you are at and what you are doing in this season of life. Make the most of every day. Make the most of every experience. Make the most of every date, every meeting, every smile, every relationship, every cup of coffee, every church service, every walk, every afternoon you’re able to sit on the deck and enjoy God’s beauty, every vacation, every workout, every meal, you name it.
Because no matter how long we live, it won’t be for that long. (**To all the Christian reading this post, I know we’ll all be together for eternity, but that’s not the point of this post!)
Enjoy the greatest gift God’s given us, LIFE.
