Personal Growth: A Decision You Must Make

Recently I had the opportunity to speak at a breakout session at the Pittsburgh Service Summit at Carlow University. I spoke on the subject of personal growth. I’m working on an e-book about 14 decisions I have made in the last 10 years that have made the biggest difference in my life. One of the decisions that have made an incredible impact on my life is the decision to have a plan for personal growth.

The Problem with Not Growing

“I don’t think much of a man that isn’t better today than he was yesterday.” -Lincoln

Why You Should Grow

4 Questions that Can Change Your Life!
Why?
Why not?
Why not you?
Why not now?

Growth = Happiness

The greatest gift you can give to somebody is your own personal development.” ~Jim Rohn

Growth sets you Apart

How to Grow

If you read only one book every month dealing with your business, ministry, or walk with Christ, in TEN years you will have read 120 books. That will easily place you in the top 1% of knowledge in most any field or aptitude you desire.

If you cut only 1 hour of tv or other casual time investments a day and invest that time in something growth orientated you’ll have added 1 1/2 months of productivity to your year!

If you listen to only 30 minutes each day (5 days a week) to a growth-producing cd or podcast, in 10 years you will have been exposed to over thirteen hundred hours of new and useful information!

Earl Nightingale said, “If a person will spend one subject for five years, that person will be an expert on that subject.”

Things to Remember

Growth happens daily, not in a day!

Quick reality check for leaders: Whose job is it to make you a better leader? That’s your job! Please stay clear on that.  -Bill Hybels

It’s Never too late to Be Who You Might have Been!

“Although you cannot go back and have a brand new start my friend, anyone can start today and have a brand new end!”

I’m never wanna be what I wanna be
Because there’s always something out there yet for me.
I get a kick outta living in the here and now,
But I never wanna feel I know the best way how
Because there’s always one hill higher with a better view,
Something waiting to be learned I never knew.
So ’til my days are over
Never fully fill my cup,
Let me go on growing,
Growing up.
