Will You Help Me Raise $5,000 for the Homeless?

“If you don’t love the poor, then you don’t know what God’s done for you.” -Tim Keller

For the third year in a row, I am running the full Pittsburgh Marathon for Light of Life Rescue Mission. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to be on Pittsburgh Today Live to talk about my experience running for Light of Life. To watch that clip, click here

My goal is to raise $5,000. Our team’s goal is to raise over $100,000 for the Mission! I would like to ask you to support me as I train to run 26.2 miles in May. Every dollar counts!

If you are unfamiliar with Light of Life, we provide food, shelter, recovery, education, employment, and the hope of Christ to homeless of Pittsburgh. When you donate to Light of Life, that is what you help provide.

Our Mission: As a ministry of Jesus Christ, Light of Life will provide a home for the homeless and food for the hungry, and will build disciples for the Kingdom of God among the poor, addicted, abused and needy. (Read Matthew 25:35-46).

In 2014, here were some of the things we accomplished as a ministry:

  • We served over 120,000 meals
  • We provided 11,277 nights of emergency shelter
  • 671 unique men stayed in our emergency shelter
  • Every night, we provide shelter for around 155 people
  • We provided 828 Chapel services
  • We had over 511 people accept Christ
  • We had 27 men and women graduate from our long-term residential program
  • We provided Thanksgiving Dinner baskets to 423 families on the North Side
  • We provided just under 13,000 meals for Urban Impact’s after school programming

Here are two videos of our graduates sharing how their lives were impacted by Light of Life:

WTAE recently did a piece on our Emergency Shelter. They interviewed one of the men staying in our shelter. You can view that clip here: http://www.wtae.com/news/helping-the-homeless-survive-the-night-the-desperate-efforts-of-pittsbugh-shelters/31372434.

I have been on staff at Light of Life for 4 years. My life has been transformed as a result of working there. If you want to learn more about the impact it’s had on my life and what I’ve learned about the homeless, listen to this message I spoke last year by clicking here.
