[shareable]’Success is easy, but so is neglect.’ -Jim Rohn[/shareable]
Last October, we had Melanie Mitro, the #1 Beachbody Coach, teach at our Learning to Lead breakfast. You can listen to her talk here. In her talk, she mentioned a book that made a big impact on her. The book is called, “The Slight Edge” (affiliate link). Because the book had made such an impact on her, I decided to read it.
The premise of the book is simple, but if you’ll apply it, it can be life changing. Here is the premise: Successful people do the easy things that unsuccessful people are unwilling to do.
Jim Rohn said it best, “What is easy to do is also easy not to do. That is the difference between success and failure.”

I am convinced that the things you need to do to be successful in any area of life are easy to do, but it’s just as easy not to do them. Some examples in my life are:
- It’s easy to workout 5-6 times a week, but it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to write 3-5 times a week, but it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to make phone calls to donors, it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to connect with my team members, it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to eat healthy and track my calories, it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to save and invest money, but it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to read and listen to podcasts everyday, but it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to add value to people everyday, but it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to love my wife everyday, but it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to plan my day, but it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to set-up meetings with mentors, but it’s also easy not to
- It’s easy to ask people to speak into my life, but it’s also easy not to
If you want to be successful, discipline yourself to do the easy things that unsuccessful people are unwilling to do.
I would encourage you to make a list of the easy things you need to do everyday, every week, and every month in order to be successful in every area of your life.
Once you have that list, it’s simply a matter of doing those things day in and day out! I dare you to live out the Slight Edge principle and see what happens!
