That's Why

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.      ~James 1:2

The other day I was working late serving at Houlihans and was about to go home, when four people walked in. I don’t know if you’ve ever worked a job where you were about to go home, and then customers walk in and you know you’ll be there for another hour, but it’s not an awesome feeling! To be honest, I was ticked! Immediately I had a bad attitude.

Well, the table stayed for an hour, but while they were eating, I got an opportunity to talk to someone about God for an hour. I’ve known this guy for a year, and finally a door opened up to share Jesus with Him. My attitude went from wanting to kill someone to being grateful for God using me in spite of me.

I walked out the door of work that night and just thanked God for using me. As I was thanking Him, He spoke to my heart, “That’s why I had another table come in and made you stay late.”

I’m learning that life is full of “That’s Why” moments. When you’re going through a trial in life, you often don’t know why until after. Looking back on it, you can see “That’s Why I had to go through that.” Sometimes we have things or people that come in and throw off our entire day. While we get upset about it, God could be setting up a “That’s Why” moment.

If you don’t know why you’re where your at or why you’re going through what you’re going through, just keep pressing through, because I promise one day you’ll look back on this season of your life and say, “That’s Why!”.
