Wax On, Wax Off

“The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?” -Proverbs 20:24

In the Karate Kid, Daniel Son wants to learn Karate. He gets the opportunity to learn from a karate master, Mr. Miyagi. When he starts his training, instead of jumping right into Karate, Mr. Miyagi has Daniel Son wax his car and paint his fence. Daniel Son gets irritated and impatient, thinking to himself, “What does this have to do with learning Karate?”

Have you been there? Do you ever find yourself in seasons of life and think to yourself, “What does this season have to do with anything, God? What does this job have to do with what you’ve called me to do? What does this trial have to do with doing what you’ve called me to do?”

WaxOnWaxOff

We have all been in that situation. However, over time, Daniel discovered that waxing on and off had everything to do with learning Karate. As a Karate Master, Mr. Miyagi knew the exact steps Daniel needed to take to get to where he wanted to go.

It’s the same way in our lives. God knows exactly what He needs you to be doing in every season of your life to prepare us for what He’s ultimately called you to do.

So often we’re focused on what our ultimate destination will be. We want to be to get to a place in our lives where we feel we have arrived. A place where we are fully developed and making the biggest impact we can make. We want to get there as fast as possible. In fact, we want to get there now.

That isn’t the way life works though. There are no shortcuts to being fully developed. Often, it takes a lifetime of God developing us to get us to the place where He can use us the way He ultimately wants to. What we have to realize is that if we don’t do what God wants us to do to develop in the season we’re in, we’ll never develop into the person we need to be to do what God has planned for us years from now.

If you are in a frustrating season and don’t see the value in doing what you’re currently doing, trust that God knows what He is doing. He’s preparing you. Mark Batterson often says that, “God wants you to get where God wants you to go more than you want to get where God wants you to go.”

We need to believe that. We need to trust that God knows exactly what we need to be doing in this season of our lives to prepare us for what He has planned for us in the next.

Look back on your life, can you remember a season where you had no idea why you were doing what you were doing, but now looking back you can see that God was involved in every step?

It’s the same thing in your current season. You may not understand it now, but looking back, you’ll see exactly why God had you do what you’re doing.

Keep waxing on and waxing off. Trust God. He’s directing your steps.

  1. Hi blogger, i found this post on 23 spot in google’s search results.
I’m sure that your low rankings are caused by hi bounce rate.

This is very important ranking factor. One of the biggest reason for
high bounce rate is due to visitors hitting the back button. The
higher your bounce rate the further down the search results your posts and pages will
end up, so having reasonably low bounce rate is important for
improving your rankings naturally. There is very handy wordpress plugin which can help you.
    Just search in google for:
    Seyiny’s Bounce Plugin
